ADAM KOKESH ACCEPTS VA BOND ADAM VS THE MAN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIZ@ADAMVSTHEMAN.COM

(HERNDON, VA, JULY 2013)— July 4, 2013- Liberty activist and YouTube personality Adam Kokesh released a video to YouTube that portrayed him loading a shotgun at Freedom Plaza, in Washington D.C. Adam performed the act of peaceful civil disobedience in order to challenge the District of Columbia’s unreasonable and unconstitutional firearms regulations. A media circus ensued, but the DC police claimed that the authenticity of the video could not be determined. On the evening of July 8, after an interview with Mark Segraves of local news station NBC 4, Adam declared that the video was authentic.

On the evening of July 9, 2013, Adam’s home was raided in a brutal show of force by a coalition of over funded and under trained law enforcement agencies. SWAT teams were present from the Virginia State Police, the DHS funded US Parks Police, and were assisted by local Herndon and Fairfax county authorities. These costumed thugs ransacked Adam’s home, and committed numerous civil rights violations in the course of their dubious search- both against Adam and the members of his crew who were present at the time. The officers would not identify themselves, and had covered their badges and name tags.

The officers obtained a shotgun matching the description of the one portrayed in the YouTube video early in the search. Throughout the search, the officers repeatedly asked for the combination to the safe, which Adam refused to provide. The shotgun in question was found upstairs and the AVTM crew, while detained together, witnessed an officer carrying it downstairs, presumably to be recorded as evidence BEFORE the safe was opened. A police photographer took extensive photos of the residence before other officers pillaged Adam’s home, destroying both Adam’s property and that of the crew. In addition, the crew witnessed officers carrying full brown paper bags resembling those commonly used for evidence INTO the house. In an obvious act of retaliation, officers spent more than four hours prying open Adam’s high-security safe.

In the hours that the officers unlawfully detained the peaceful activists, the officers’ actions repeatedly turned to tactics of intimidation and abuse, including committing acts of physical violence against various members of the crew, confiscating recording devices to remove accountability, and sweeping the room repeatedly with the muzzles of their loaded firearms. Valuable items that were not noted on the warrant were found missing after the search was completed. After a police photographer took an extensive record of the contents of the house, Adam was arrested. and only provided with the warrant AFTER he had been removed from his residence.

This warrant comes accompanied by a highly suspect sealed affidavit that has not yet been released to either the judge or to the public. Raymond Morrogh was the Fairfax County commonwealth attorney that arranged for the collaboration between the various law enforcement agencies. There is suspicion that he acted because of pressure from a greater authority within the courts. Until the contents of the sealed affidavit are released, there are many questions regarding the identity of the confidential informant who provided the testimony, and to the legitimacy of the warrant itself.

Adam has been a political prisoner at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center since the 10th, initially held in an ant-infested cell with the lights left on 24 hours a day. After his charges were presented , he was transferred to solitary confinement and allowed phone calls. After Adam’s arrest, the ADAM VS THE MAN team sprang into action to raise the necessary funds for Adam’s defense- and after two weeks, have raised more than $16,000 thanks to donations from Adam’s supporters.

This morning, the ADAM VS THE MAN team arrived at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and met with a bail bondsman to advance to the next step in the case of the District of Columbia vs. Adam Kokesh. The decision to move forward was made by Graziella Bianchi, the lawyer that Adam has selected for the case. Graziella will be handling both the Virginia case and the Federal case.

As of Thursday, July 25, the Detention Center has not made a statement as to when Adam will be released, and the federal agents have 48 hours to collect Adam on the extradition warrant that they issued Monday evening. At this time, we await the Federal law enforcement agencies’ next move.

In order to ensure that he retains proper counsel and keeps this case at the forefront of public attention, Adam requires at least $50,000 for counsel and operational expenses. The ADAM VS THE MAN team is handling all fund raising endeavors, and donations can be made to the Invest page at www.adamvstheman.com/invest.
